I've been doing some cleansing lately (10 days on soft food---lots of psilium husk and bentonite----and a liver flush on day 7--all of this was suprivised by professionals)--and I've been drinking a lot of essiac tea, and yogi detox tea, and I've been doing some other things, too.... and I was just wondering--off the top of anyones head---does anyone know of any cases where one might experience receding gums as a cleansing reaction?

Re: Receding Gums
Thu, January 25, 2007 - 12:16 PMI haven't experienced that, but you can make a good tooth powder to keep your gums healthy by mixing some baking soda and sea salt with rubbed sage and a few drops each of myrrh and tea tree essential oils. Wet your toothbrush and dip it in the powder then brush as usual. -

Too much too soon?
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 8:56 AMIt sounds like perhaps your receding gums are a message from your body that you are cleansing too hard, too quickly. My brother once experienced receding gums from malnutrition due to fasting too much and eating too many cleansing foods when he did eat. -

Re: Too much too soon?
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 10:43 AMI've heard that brushing with cayenne powder helps...but I haven't tried it yet. Apparently it brings blood flow to the area and helps things heal up. -

Re: Too much too soon?
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 12:40 PM...that makes total sense--I was just saying to myself I think I've been doing too much cleansing---and I eat a lot of cleansing foods--time to work on rebuilding for a bit...thanks, Heather

Re: Too much too soon?
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 6:56 PMAnother note: I've heard that Co-Q10 is good for gums. I used a toothpaste that had Co-Q10 in it, and it helped for a little while, but now I'm having some problems again. I will try just supplements next time.
As well, I've read that brushing with goldenseal powder can be good. I haven't tried this (just read about it today), but I want to find out more about goldenseal before I try this.
I'm wimpy about the cayenne too! Though...I've heard very good things. I'll see if I can get the guts to do it. -

Re: Too much too soon?
Mon, February 12, 2007 - 6:43 PMI am doing a 1 month master cleanse, at the end of the month actually. This past week, literally a week, I've been shedding a great deal of hair, even eye lashes (I wear makeup too btw). Plus my gums are receading, not a lot but bottom front. What did I do wrong? I haven't been taking my regular vitamins because I didn't want to swerve from the cleanse process.
Suggestions? I saw the toothpaste suggestions but I'm more worried at the moment of my hair. Its not like chunks, just a ton of shedding all day long. I'm a bit freaked out by it. -

Re: Too much too soon?
Tue, February 13, 2007 - 7:48 AMi'm not too convinced on the master cleanse. i think it's a bit harsh and unhealthy. i did it for a week once and have honestly felt better after doing cleanses that consisted of ultra clear (detox powder you can only purchase through health care providers) mixed with my smoothies and regular colon hydrotherapy sessions. What i got mostly out of the master cleanse was some good insight on how much i actually eat and spend time focused on food, cooking food, thining about food, eating food, etc. the master cleanse allowed me the time to step back and see that i really just dont need the ALL the food i consume. i learned that my body can be even more efficiant with less. if nothing else, that was a great thing to get out of the cleanse. but i fell like it is a bit extreme...depending on how long you do it. if my hair wasa falling out and gums receding i would be making an appointment with a naturopath ASAP. you may be deficient in EFA's. if you live in the DC/VA area i can recommend some great people. -

Re: Too much too soon?
Tue, February 13, 2007 - 11:20 AMwhats up lisa
when i was doing my cleansing---my eyebrow hair was falling out--making my eyebrows really thin looking--now that i've stopped cleansing--and started focusing on regenerating---my eyebrows have grown back. i had receeding gums, too. i don't know much about the master cleanse--but it seems like its the most hardcore of all the cleanses, right? it seems like maybe you'd want to work your way up to the master cleanse. i never figured out what the exact cause was--but i think i was doing too much cleansing. babeh steps, also, you should cleanse the lymph and blood before you cleanse anything else. everyone wants to get the bad stuff out as fast as possible---but y ou need to look at the whole body--and the whole person-----and you need to prepare before you cleanse.. in your position i would stop cleansing right away--and gently reintroduce yourself to food---i've heard that how you come off a cleanse is SUPER important--and then just take extra good care of yourself for a couple weeks and you'll probably be fine.

Re: Too much too soon?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 8:17 AMOil of Oregano is great for your gums. It's accaully great for just about anything and has really been a miracle cure for alot of people it's cheap to $20 a bottle at any health food store. Put a drop on your tooth bruth and bruth away your gums should feel better soon. Be careful when you cleanse doing a month long master cleanse is way to harsh on your body and can accually be worse for you. Make sure to get your healthy bacteria up becuase if you are doing a cleanse that is really harsh it's not just killing bad bacteria it's killing everything and if you don't take healthy bacteria while on the cleanse and after you are just making a better enviroment for bad bacteria.
