I do not do maple syrup, or any sweetener other than stevia...what do you all think of a variation of master cleanse that is basically just lemon water?

If you do any cleans and you want to reach the cells and clean them out of all bad bacteria and give life to the good bacteria, use honey.

Honey is a mixture of natural sugars formed from nectar of flowers in the bodies of bees. A natural sweetener with Bioactive, Antibiotic and Antiseptic properties, honey contains all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes necessary for proper metabolism and digestion of glucose and other sugars. Still, honey is almost twice as sweet as sugar. Avoid it if you have candidacies or diabetes; use it with great care if you are hypoglycemic.

Dr.Tsitsin, who is Russia’s chief biologist and botanist in the bee industry, surveyed approximately 150 Russian people who were all greater than one hundred twenty-five years old. He said: all of the 150 or more people past 125 years old on Russia, without exception, have stated their principal food has always been pollen and honey---mostly pollen.
The honey these Russians ate was not store-bought, pasteurized, and filtered honey that many of us are familiar with, but an un-pasteurized, unfiltered, unprocessed, taw mix of honey and bee pollen found at the bottom of the honey containers. Interestingly enough, many of these Russian centenarians turned out also to be beekeepers. In worldwide Secrets For Staying Young, Airola claims that honey boosts calcium, retention, increases red blood cell count for nutritional anemia’s stemming from iron ad copper deficiencies, and has a beneficial effect on arthritis, colds, poor circulation, constipation, liver and kidney disorders, poor complexion, and insomnia.

The fact that honey and bee pollen are rejuvenating foods was known long before the Russians discovered it. Pythagoras, the Greek spiritual teacher and mathematician, used raw foods for healing and recommended honey for health and long life as far back as 500 B.C

The grade b maple syrup is not used as a sweetener. it is used because the syrup is uncooked (raw). This maple syrup contains the micronutrients and enzymes you will be basically living on during the cleanse. All of the nutrition comes from the syrup that is why it has to be raw . Honey is not reccomended for the master cleanse and is advised against. You can buy an indepth booklet about the cleanse with the directions on commentary by the man who originated this cleanse for about seven dollars in most health food places and many new age/metaphysical bookstores. I'm sure honey is great for some cleanses but if you are going to do the tried and true master cleanse it might be better to do it the way it is reccomended.

I use this on people like you that can't have sugars, with great results. They fast on it about 6oz. a day.

        Broths
        REVITALIZING BROTH

        1 pint water
3 cups chopped vegetables (use 5 to 6 different non-gas- producing vegetables such as beets, carrots, potato unpeeled, celery, parsley, okra, seaweed, garlic and any kind of squash.
        1. place the water, and vegetables in a large soup pot. Slowly bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for fifteen minutes.
        2. strain the broth and allow to cool slightly.
        3. ladle the broth into a large mug and drink warm. Add chili and sea salt to taste, or braggs.

HOW TO MAKE “Barbara’s” VEGETABLE BROTH

Take three (3) quarts of distilled water and add three (3) medium to large whole potatoes, red, yellow or golden, unpeeled. two to three (2-3) stalks of cut celery, and one or two (1-2) large leaves of any greens, such as bak choy, mustards, collard, kale, leek, turnip or a half- bunch of parsley. Even carrot or beet tops will do. Whatever is green, celery, onions, leek, carrot, parsley, shataki mushroom, and burdock. You should add a little kelp if you want high concentrates of a wide variety of minerals, a must. Use a stainless steel pot and bring to a light boil with the lid on. Simmer for15 minutes. Then turn off the heat, and after it has cooled a bit, strain off the juice and drink the juice warm. After refrigerate you can reheat. Drink two to three (2-3) cups a day as needed for the fast and cleans. Try not to over do it with the juice.

It is my understanding that the master cleanse puts your body into starvation mode where it burns muscle, not fat, so I am not a big proponent.

A rigorous but much more sane approach to detoxification:
        www.natmedworks.com/detox.html

Fruit is not a big part of the 21 day detox, it is limited throughout. You can do it without the fruit.

If your not in the Bay Area try here:
        www.drcory.com/essential-cleanse

Note, both of these detox/cleanse programs are run by naturopathic doctors. If you want to detoxify safely, especially if your a newbie, you need some guidance beyond a book.

        Good luck.
