Hi all,

This is my first post in this tribe, I feel giddy ;) I'm planning on doing a liver flush next weekend and found the following recipe. Has anyone done anything similar to this? Anything good or bad you'd like to share? Any additional tidbits of information would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks,

Avtar

here is what i give my clients: (sorry so long)

The ”No Apple Juice” Liver/Gallbladder Cleanse
The “No Apple Juice” Liver Cleanse uses both phosphoric and malic acids. These two supplements soften the stones in the liver and gallbladder without the complications of apple juice (bloating, feeding candida and other infestations, or raising your blood sugar levels...)
    The Importance of Liver/Gallbladder Cleansing
People with acute, chronic and degenerative illnesses are likely to have a large amount of stones congesting the liver and gall bladder and their ducts. These stones are the result of increased acid levels over time throughout the entire body system. When acid levels rise one thing that is greatly affected is the digestive and liver system, and along with that that production of bile. One of the body’s natural defenses is to bind those acids with calcium in an effort to protect you and your health, causing ‘stones’. This in turn affects the entire digestive function and overall health. By removing the stones, through a series of liver cleanses, as outlined in the next section, and maintaining a healthy, primarily alkaline, diet the liver and gall bladder have the ability to be restored to their natural efficiency.
Symptoms of discomfort and disease are given the chance to subside and health regained. Allergies, skin conditions, digestive disorders and back pain may also lessen or even disappear. Energy and the sense of well-being are encouraged to miraculously return. Cleansing the liver and gall bladder from stones is one of the most important therapies to do for improving health. For best results, it is recommended to do 6 liver cleanses, 2 weeks apart.

Andreas Moritz, author of “The Amazing Liver Cleanse”, a health consultant and a practitioner of Ayurvedic Medicine, outlines the importance of liver cleansing very succinctly. He writes, “ Because the liver is the main organ responsible for processing, converting, distributing and maintaining the body’s fuel supply, obstructive gallstones can greatly impair the capacity to deliver the right amount of nutrients and energy to the right places at the right times. This can upset the very delicate balance in the body, i.e., homeostasis, and disrupt any of its systems and organs. Freeing the liver and gallbladder from all stones, not only helps to restore balance and set the precondition for the body to heal itself, but is perhaps one of the best precautions one can take to protect oneself against illness in the future.”

You can expect dramatic results even from the first cleanse. The morning after, you will have bowel movements mixed with food particles and floating green and tan colored stones in all shapes and sizes. The ones that float contain cholesterol and the ones that sink contain heavier toxic metals.
    Important note on cleansing.
Ideally, for best results, doing some type of colon cleansing before a liver cleanse is optimal. This just insures that the liver/gallbladder congestion has a way out! This is also true before undertaking any type of specific cleansing (i.e., ‘liver’, ‘candida’, ‘heavy metals’, etc.) it is always a good idea to make sure that the colon is functioning and moving properly. The reason being that the colon is the body’s primary organ of elimination, so anything the body is wanting or trying to eliminate will be placed in the colon first. If there is any level of constipation, if the colon is dirty, stuck, slow or backed up, then some portion of what the cleansing process has released will get stuck in the colon and can be reabsorbed. The discomfort or symptoms experienced with this is typically known as a cleansing reaction and can be mostly, if not entirely, avoided by doing undergoing some colon cleansing first.
Here's an overview of how it works.
The natural acids in phosphoric and malic acid are used to soften hardened bile and other waste products that have collected in the liver and gall bladder. On the fourth day of the flush, magnesium (Epsom salts) is ingested to relax the smooth muscle lining of the bile ducts, making it possible for larger stones to pass, without pain. The oil that you drink at the end of the fourth day of the flush acts as the stimulant for gall bladder contraction, forcing the loosened bile and waste materials out of the gall bladder and liver through the relaxed bile ducts. Finally, an enema or colon hydrotherapy are used on the morning of the day after (the fifth day) to release any remaining wastes from the liver, gall bladder and lower G.I. tract. Colon hydrotherapy sessions in any combination of before, during or after the cleanse will assist the cleansing process.
    Doing the Cleanse
You will need: 1 gallon of water
    1 ounce (30 cc) Ultra-Phos or Phos-Food Liquid
    12 tablets Malic Acid
    4 Tablespoons Epsom salts
½ cup cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil
¾ cup grapefruit juice (fresh or bottled)
10 drops of Walnut Hull Tincture
    Directions:
    1. Add I ounce (30 cc) of the Ultra-Phos Liquid to 1 gallon of water. Drink one quart (32 ounces) throughout the day, preferably before and in between meals, for 4 days. If it is too strong, portion the gallon over a, 6 day period. Take 3 tablets of malic acid per day with food for the 4 day period. Eat lighter than usual avoiding breads, meats, dairy products, sugar/fruits, alcohol and smoking. This will yield the best results.
    2. The morning of the third or fourth days are a good time to have colon hydrotherapy. It is not uncommon to notice greenish objects in the waste expelled during the colonic, measuring from 1/8 to ¾ inch in diameter. Many will be quite soft, while others may be hard and stone-like. Sometimes, they are seen in the stool for several days following the flush. If you are unable to schedule colon hydrotherapy, you should do an enema (a real 1-2 gallon enema, not just a “Fleet”). Make sure to drink at least ½ ounce of pure water, per pound of body weight, each day for flushing purposes…(ortho phos water doesn’t count!)
    3. At 2 PM on the fourth day of drinking your Ultra-Phos preparation, stop eating. You may drink plain water and/or fresh green vegetable juices. At 6 PM, mix the 4 tablespoons of Epsom salts in 3 cups of water. Drink ¾ cup now. Have another ¾ cup at 8 PM. If you have not had a bowel movement it is a good idea to do an enema now...
    4. At 9:30 - 10 PM mix the olive oil, grapefruit juice and 10 drops of Black Walnut Hull, all organic where possible, in a jar with a lid. Stand by the side of your bed, shake the mixture well and drink it, all of it... Then, retire for the night. Lie on your right side with your right knee drawn up to your chest. DO NOT MOVE for at least 20 min. This will help facilitate the movement of the oil from the stomach into the small intestine. You may have occasional episodes of nausea or cramping as the gall bladder periodically contracts. At this point just RELAX and fall asleep.
    5. The next morning drink ¾ cup Epsom salt between 6-7 AM and again at 8-9 AM. Stay close to the toilet for the next several hours. This morning is a good time for a post cleanse colonic. You will see many more stones expelled.
    6. Drink fresh juices and eat organic salads for the rest of the day to celebrate and rejoice!
Caution: Do not do this liver cleanse if you are sick or have any other medical concerns. Always consult your physician or health care professional first...

This is such a great question and so many great responses. I like that someone pointed out Milk Thistle. I think the flushes are the absolute best way to address STONES. But for many folks, it's not enough. There are some incredible liver products on the market that nourish, detoxify and help rebuild the liver. I think this is a very important step towards greater liver health, esp if your over the age of 35 or if you've had a party lifestyle for some time.

nux - that is awesome - thank you for sharing!!!

i am on day 8 of the polarity liver flush. (Bruce Burger at Heartwood leads a deeply spriitual liver cleanse program and has the recipes on his website if you google him)

the am begins with - in a blender - a peeled lemon, a peeled grapefruit, a chunck @ 1" of ginger, a clove of garlic, and 2tbs of olive oil.

then a tea that i didn't follow so well - licorice, fenugreek, milk thistle would be helpful.

the rest of the cleanse is vegetables - and a soup of bitter green has been super nice:
amaranth, lambs quarters, kale, nettles, garlic - i should add seaweed but i haven't been

day 2 + 3 had good green poop results
        day 7 i hated everyone
day 8 i took off and went for a hike and that has been calming

no i think i will try making nux's pesto!

        peace,
        zip

I am going on my 3rd round on a liver/gallbladder flush - found in the book 'The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush' by Andreas Moritz.

It starts with 6 days of drinking 32 oz of apple juice - to soften the bile 'pebbles', on the 6th day, there is a very specific program to follow with involves drinking epsom salts and also a mixture of grapefruit juice and olive oil (tastes better than it sounds).

Anyway, I have done 2 rounds previously with good results, and anticipate having to do at least 8 'rounds' total of the flush (at minimum - as stated in the book) until all of the bile has been flushed.

The book is very comprehensive, and I recommend it. Also recommended with this particular flush is to do colon hydro-therapy before and after each flush (to make there is no blockage before, and to be sure that no bile is 'stuck' in the colon after the flush.

This particular flush takes 24 hours for the actual flush.

i am not into drinking salt water on a cleanse or getting colon hydro therapy.

would i still like the "the amazing liver and gallbladder flush"?

i prefer a gentle approach to cleansing that can be integrated into ones life. the arize and shine cleanse is more intense than i want to do.

the feeling of scrubbing oneself clean - for me i have found i backlash when the cleanse is done more extremely - so i choose more simple cleanses in hopes of being able to achieve a healthier lifestyle every day.
