cleansing caution

hi cleansers,

just wanted to throw a caution flag out there for y'all

i did a cleansing diet for a few weeks. i was 'run down' but i didnt really realize it, i didnt get enough sleep a couple nights, got a cut and it quickly got infected, swelled up, etc etc.

anyway i'm on the mend now, but i realize
* i dropped weight too quickly
* i went too long without getting enough protein and that slowly made my system and defenses weaker

note that i was eating citrus, drinking lemon and water, eating veges, getting exercise, and thought that everything was fine - i know i was getting lots of vitamin c so that wasn't the issue. but its like all my reserves were getting used up, and then when i needed them they weren't there and my body crashed. i'm still eating a clean diet (no sugar, white flour, etc) but i'm making sure to get enough protein. i realize that protein is a controversial issue, but for me, its something that i need.

the longer i experiment with diet, the more i'm convinced you cant make up any rules that will apply to all people. so the flip side of this is that you should read what everyone says, but you have to listen to your own body and please not do anything too radical, or it will end up hurting you more then helping.

my other tidbit since you've read this far, is i think its ok and probably natural for your diet to go in cycles. so maybe there are periods when you eat a 'heavy' diet, and then times when you eat a light diet, and then time for cleanses as well.

I think this is solid, practical advise! We are all different... our bodies are cyclical in nature and so is our environment... nothing is usually the exact same way it was before. Thanks for posting - your experience has been my experience as well at times.

thanks for posting this..i had a similar experience when i fasted. i find that it is much better for me to eat a good balanced diet, nothing after 4 (except my turmeric rice milk with honey), and take it easy until my body adjusts. it took me about three weeks of lethargy and weight loss to shift back into a healthy energy level on a better diet, but it was amazing to me that though i laid around and slept way too much (a possible aspect of cleansing when shifting dietary regimine) i still lost 15 lbs!
